Iron Maiden comic book series ‘Legacy of the Beast’ coming soon

Posted in Metal, Misc., News with tags , on 2nd October 2017 by izaforestspirit

Iron Maiden are about to launch their won comic book series entitled ‘Iron Maiden Legacy of The Beast’. The series is based on their popular mobile role-playing game ‘ Iron Maiden: Legacy Of The Beast’ and it will focus on the band’s mascot Eddie as the main protagonist. The story has been written by Llexi Leon and Ian Edginton and illustrated by Kevin J. West, Jason Gorder, and Santi Casas.

Here is a more detailed outline of the plot:

The comic book series expands on the video game narrative. As dark forces conspire to corrupt the fabric of reality, Eddie’s immortal soul is shattered and strewn across the cosmos – leaving a weakened, primal Eddie to battle across space and time facing off against the twisted legions of The Beast, seeking out the lost shards of his soul, and bringing order to the realms. With each victory, and with the aid of old friends, Eddie will restore his fearsome powers as he draws ever closer to facing the Unholy foe behind his fall… and thwarting a plot to unravel all of Creation!

There will be five issues of the comic in total, the first of which is due to hit comic shops worldwide via Heavy Metal Publishing on 11th October 2017.

Posted in Metal, Misc., News with tags , on 14th August 2017 by izaforestspirit

The Finnish atmospheric metal band The Man-Eating Tree have recently announced that their drummer Vesa Ranta (ex-Sentenced) has left the band and retired from the music industry. Here’s an extract from the official statement by his band mates:

“Hey,

Unfortunately, we have to inform you that our drummer Vesa Ranta is retiring from his active and long musical career. Vesa was there from the first moments of The Man-Eating Tree, and since that he was an essential part in making TMET as it is today, also as a super talented graphic, and behind many relevant ideas concerning the band. We are eternally thankful for all the moments we shared and experienced, all the laughter and tears. It is not just a band member leaving and going a separate direction, but something way more. All in all, we wish Vesa all the best with his other great pursuits in life and we support him with all our hearts. “

With blood, sweat and tears

Hordes Of Belial – The Burning H8: Final line-up

Posted in Festival, Live, Metal, Misc., News with tags , on 18th July 2017 by Paul Macmillan

Organisers of Scottish hard rock and extreme metal showcase, Hordes Of Belial, have announced the full line-up for their 8th yearly edition of the event. Sub-titled “The Burning H8”, it again fills two stages with veterans and newcomers from across the underground spectrum. Travelling from classic thrash with Virus to brand new filthy doom with Dolour, the HOB battle train stops off at some of the best, secret beauty spots of death, trad, black, crossover, and just straight up metal along the way.

13 bands in all will take to the two stages this September 30th, two less than the 15 which have featured in recent years. The quality is convincing, though, especially when looking back at the event’s history. HOB is one of the places where Scottish bands such as Dog Tired, Ramage Inc, and Party Cannon started rubbing shoulders with bigger names, and where the likes of De Profundis and Diesel King based their first forays north of the border. There may be bigger shows, but few are as focused on diving into the depths to retrieve the treasures which grace the Hordes Of Belial stages each and every year. Even if you hadn’t heard of any of the bands, you can still be sure there are some priceless gems within.
