Arch Enemy present title track for upcoming album

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , on 20th March 2014 by Nico Solheim-Davidson

Swedish death metallers Arch Enemy announced earlier this week the withdrawal of Angela Gossow from the band’s line-up as well as her replacement, Alissa White-Gluz, formerly of The Agonist. Gossow will now be involved in the management side of things with Arch Enemy. As such, it is now time to lift the veil and see what unholy blasphemous music Arch Enemy have in store with their new vocalist. The title track for the band’s upcoming album, War Eternal, can be heard down below.

Arch Enemy will unleash their 9th studio album, War Eternal, worldwide via Century Media Records and Trooper Entertainment in Japan in early June 2014. War Eternal was recorded in various studios during Winter 2013/2014 and produced by the band themselves. Jens Bogren (Opeth, Paradise Lost, Kreator) mixed and mastered the album at Fascination Street Studio. Arch Enemy will start their War Eternal world tour in May with an extensive run through Europe. Arch Enemy release details of new album War Eternal

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , on 6th March 2014 by Nico Solheim-Davidson

Swedish melodic death metallers Arch Enemy have begun the mixing of their new album, War Eternal, at their 9th studio with Jens Bogren (Opeth, Paradise Lost) in Sweden, following their most successful world tour to-date and three years after the release of their previous album Khaos Legions. Guitarist Michael Amott comments:

We’ve been producing ourselves, as we did on Khaos Legions. We have a clear vision of what we want Arch Enemy to sound like, and we can actually achieve it without the help of outside producers. We also have the advantage of having two talented sound engineers among our ranks in Daniel Erlandsson (drums) and Nick Cordle (guitar).

We’ve been tracking at a few different studios here in Sweden, the drums at Fascination Street Studio and guitars and bass in another room. We just finished vocals in a third studio with engineer Staffan Karlsson (Khaos Legions) and the mix and mastering will done by Jens Bogren at his Fascination Street mixing facility.

Musically, this album is going a few places we haven’t visited before. As our fans have come expect, our albums have all had their own vibe and War Eternal will leave its own mark. Lyrically it’s a much more personal record, and I feel the songs have more dynamics and depth than ever before. The songs are loaded with strong and vicious metal, drenched in tons of melody and emotion. All the trademarks of Arch Enemy are present, just more in your face and turned up to 11.

The new album, as mentioned above, will be titled War Eternal. Michael explains:

A lot of times life is a struggle, a war against what I like to call ‘mental chains’ in society that try to prevent you from living life the way you want, that try to stop you from making your dreams come true. I have always resented that and I always will. The title sums up our collective attitude a band as well; stages will be destroyed, eardrums will bleed. There will be no choice. This, ladies and gentlemen, is  War Eternal

Arch Enemy will debut new material on a short eastern European tour before the album is released in early June 2014; this trek will then be followed by an extensive run of European summer festivals, including Sweden Rock, Wacken and many more. A full headlining tour in North America, Europe, and the UK will take place in fall/winter 2014. Arch Enemy will once again tour nearly every corner of this world to spread the sound of War Eternal! European tour dates are as follow:

Spinefarm Announce Second Label Night

Posted in News with tags , , , on 18th May 2012 by Nico Solheim-Davidson

Following on from the night of rock ‘n’ roll excess that saw Reckless Love, Jettblack and The Treatment lining up at the Garage in February of this year, Spinefarm Records has put together another ‘label night’ at the North London venue, this time in association with Last.FM. The ticket price is £10 and the first 50 people into the venue will receive a free Spinefarm goody bag.

Appearing on the bill are Amaranthe, Dynazty and Soen, three acts from Sweden currently causing a stir on home turf; six‐strong award‐winners Amaranthe hail from Gothenburg, and – complete with three vocalists (including some‐time Kamelot touring member Elize Ryd) plus a sound that veers from pure pop to full‐tilt, gruff‐throated metal – are successfully adding a brand new chapter to the Book Of Hard Rock.
Already the band have toured Europe with fellow Swedes Hammerfall, appeared at the Bloodstock event in the UK, played a wall‐to‐wall headline London show, sold out a Japanese venue in a matter of
minutes, been confirmed for Germany’s premier metal festival, Wacken, and become a firm staple at Swedish national radio… and all on the back of a self‐titled debut album that has thrown up some of the most memorably rockin’ moments of the past 12 months, including lead‐off single Hunger – the video for which has now exceeded two million plays on YouTube.

Says guitarist Olof Morck: “So it is time for us to return to the UK once more, and anyone who attended our last show at the Borderline in London can easily figure out why we are so excited to be coming back! Now, it is time to destroy the Garage with thundering riffs and catchy choruses, so you should definitely not miss out on this one! We have also just gotten word that we will play northern Europe’s largest amusement park at the end of the festival season – a HUGE show right in our home town, where we will be headlining in front of more than 10,000 people! We could not possibly have imagined this just a few months ago, and in response to this honour we will deliver the biggest and most spectacular Amaranthe show so far. A taste of the future!”

Joining Amaranthe on the bill in London will be powerful melodic rockers Dynazty – a five‐piece outfit from Stockholm whose latest/third studio album, ‘Sultans Of Sin’, entered the main Swedish chart at No. 8 and the hard rock / metal chart at No. 1! Bringing to mind prime‐era Skid Row & Whitesnake, Dynazty would seem to have a very busy 2012 in store, with an appearance at the Sweden Rock Festival now confirmed plus a full run of Swedish dates with battle metallers, Sabaton.

Rounding out the Spinefarm bill is progressive rock outfit Soen – a four piece outfit described as “melodic, heavy, intricate and very different to everything else”, and featuring a collection of musicians whose individual reputations go before them; that’s Swedish drummer Martin Lopez (ex‐Opeth, Amon Amarth), bassist extraordinaire Steve DiGiorgio (Sadus, Testament, Death, Iced Earth), vocalist Joel Ekelof (Willowtree) and guitarist Kim Platbarzdis.

The band’s debut album, ‘Cognitive’, has recently been released via Spinefarm; it features the video tracks ‘Savia’ & ‘Delenda’, and has been mixed by David Bottrill of Tool & King Crimson fame.
