We are immensely proud to start promotion of The Satanist on the release date of the album in such a noble company. It’s been a while since we toured Europe for the last time… The wolfpack grew stronger and hungrier and with new opus and stage production we have so much more to offer. This European crusade will be the catalyst of 2 years long tour so keep your eyes open!

This reign of darkness will be opened by Oslo based Svarttjern and the rest of the line up is completed by, Swedish heavy metal veterans In Solitude and Colombian black metallers Inquistion.

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , on 6th June 2013 by Nico Solheim-Davidson

Norway’s Sirenia, fronted by former Spanish X Factor contestant Ailyn, are set to release their new album, Perils of the Deep Blue on 28th June. Sirenia recently shot the video for the album’s second track Seven Widows Weep. The video can be viewed below. The band’s founding member and guitarist Morten Veland commented:

In April we went to Serbia to shoot a video clip for the song Seven Widows Weep. We’ve been working with the Icode team again, this is the guys that also did the video clips for our first two videos; My Mind’s Eye and The Other Side. We had a great time in Serbia, and the recording sessions turned out great. Now the post production is finished as well and we are very excited to share the video with our fans. We think that the guys at Icode did a great job and made a video that serves the song perfectly. The band is very pleased with the video, and we hope that you will enjoy it as well. Cheers!

Rival Sons release video compiled of fan footage

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , on 27th April 2013 by Nico Solheim-Davidson

Rival Sons have released a video for their latest single, Wild Animal, compiled from footage sent in from their fans.

The band, who recently returned home from a near sell-out European headlining tour, held a competition asking their fans around the world to send in clips of their own creative interpretations of the song.  The winning entries were chosen by the band and put together to make the official fan video. Rival Sons drummer Michael Miley comments:

So check it out.  Before our recent European tour, we asked our fans to submit 20 sec clips for the song Wild Animal off our latest album Head Down.  What a riot it was going through these!  Now, we present to you the culmination of our fans’ (all your!) hard work and creativity on the ‘Official Wild Animal Fan Clip’.  We’re always interested in encouraging creativity and so many of our fans worldwide totally put real time and effort into these clips; the entries were awesome and far exceeded our expectations!  Yo!  Rival ‘Sons and Daughters’: you’ve outdone yourselves!  We’re gonna have to set the bar higher for the next one haha!  We want to thank you all for the entries, and also all your support on our recent European tour – man, you guys are awesome.

See Rival Sons live at the following shows:

Jun. 08 – Kivenlahti, Finland – Kivenlahti Rock
Jun. 14 – Bergen, Norway – Bergenfest
Jun. 15 – Oslo, Norway – Norwegian Wood festival

Vocalist and guitarist Morten Veland comments:

The entire band and all the people we are working with are absolutely ecstatic about it! This album takes Sirenia to the next level and brings many new sides of us to the table. There’s typical tried and tested Sirenia stuff but also approaches that you’ve never heard from us before. I think I’ve never felt so good about an album throughout my entire career. I mean, I love them all, but this one is something special. It’s the result of two and a half years of blood, sweat and tears. I’ve literally put my heart and soul into this record, so I am very curious to see what our fans as well as the press will think about it!

Perils Of The Deep Blue was produced by Veland himself, while the mixing and mastering was done by Endre Kirkesola in Dub Studios, Oslo. Veland stated:

The writing process has been going on for about two years. I always have ideas for new stuff, so I started writing even before we had released our previous album The Enigma Of Life. Most of it has been recorded in my own studio. I love to work there as I always feel inspired – plus we can take our time with whatever we do, for there is no time pressure. Just like for all of our previous albums, we also dropped by Sound Suite Studios in France – a great place that feels like home, too. This time we recorded the Marseille choir there that one can always hear on our records, as well as some of my acoustic guitar parts.

The album artwork was originally painted by Anne Stokes – though it wasn’t intentionally created to be used for this role, as Morten explains:

I came across the artwork on the Internet and immediately fell in love with it for obvious reasons – it’s no secret that I’ve always been fascinated by Greek mythology and sirens. So we got in touch with Anne and luckily she granted us the permits to use it for the record. I actually drew the inspiration for the album title ‘Perils Of The Deep Blue’ from the artwork. In my opinion, it’s the perfect Sirenia cover – there was no way we could have let that opportunity slip away!
