Brutality Will Prevail announce new album details

British hardcore mob Brutality Will Prevail will be releasing their new album Suspension Of Consciousness on 7th April via Siege Of Amida Records and Century Media. The album, the band’s fourth full length, will mark the recorded debuts of frontman Louis Gauthier and drummer Craig Reynolds, who joined Brutality Will Prevail during the international touring cycle for the band’s 2012 release Scatter The Ashes.

Despite their bludgeoning live schedule which saw the band exporting their brand of down-tempo heaviness as far afield as Japan, Australia and Indonesia, Brutality Will Prevail spent the majority of 2013 developing new material, eager to fully showcase the fresh blood in their ranks. As drummer Reynolds recalls:

We recorded through amazing vintage equipment. The entire album was tracked in just 6 days with the intensity of a live show; there was none of this computer reliant, digi-fix-this-fix-that shit that today’s heavy scene has become so polluted with.

Once BWP’s kinetic tracking session was complete, Converge’s Kurt Ballou was tasked with mixing duties, the veteran producer bringing his unique, inimitable snarl to a recording already bursting with feral aggression. Though brute force is far from all that Suspension has to offer, BWP draw on a varied spectrum of influences this time around, from Slayer and Slipknot to Baroness and Cave In, to bring new layers of depth and creativity to their sonic forge. Guitarist Ash Gray comments:

This album is the first time we haven’t held ourselves back in any way. It still has some hallmarks of the classic BWP sound, but we also really pushed ourselves to progress and try new things, and no one more so than Louis (Gauthier, vocals) – his performance really shines, and there are definitely some surprises throughout the record. The past year, culminating in this album, has been about much more than just a line up change, this is a fresh start.

Former Slipknot drummer Joey Joridison insists he did not leave band voluntarily

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on 2nd January 2014 by Nico Solheim-Davidson

Last month, Slipknot issued a statement that basically said renowned drummer Joey Jordison had departed from the band for personal reasons. However, the former Slipknot drummer insists that he didn’t leave the band voluntarily. THough he doesn’t explicitly say that he was fired, he does mention that he was blindsided by the shocking move, which means that Slipknot will go ahead with their first album since the death of Paul Gray in 2010 without co-founding member Joey. The following is a statement released by Joey regarding his departure from Slipknot:

To my fans, friends, and associates… I would like to start the New Year by addressing the recent rumours and speculation regarding my departure from Slipknot.

I want to make it very clear that I DID NOT QUIT SLIPKNOT. This band has been my life for the last 18 years, and I would never abandon it, or my fans.

This news has shocked and blindsided me as much as it has all of you.

While there is much I would like to say, I must remain silent to further details at this time. I would like to thank you all for your unwavering love and support, and wish everyone a very happy and healthy new year.

Corey Taylor, Slipknot’s vocalist, tweeted the following last month regarding Joey’s departure from the band:

Slipknot part ways with drummer Joey Jordison

Posted in News with tags , , , , , on 13th December 2013 by Nico Solheim-Davidson

In a strange turn of events, Slipknot recently released the following statement:

To our Maggots and fans around the world,

It is with great pain but quiet respect that, for personal reasons, Joey Jordison and Slipknot are parting ways. We all wish Joey the best in whatever his future holds.

We understand that many of you will want to know how and why this has come to be, and we will do our best to respond to these questions in the near future.

It is our love for all of you, as well as for the music we create, that spurs us to continue on and move forward with our plans for releasing new material in the next year. We hope that all of you will come to understand this, and we appreciate your continued support while we plan the next phase of the future of Slipknot.

Thank you, The ‘Knot.

The news is shocking to say the least and at this stage, it’s hard to determine whether Joey was fired or left of his own accord or if it was a mutual decision. In related news Jim Root won’t be joining Stone Sour on their next tour as he’s currently pre-occupied in writing new material with Slipknot.
