After the release of “The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Vol. 1” (review here), Las Vegas-based Five Finger Death Punch have now announced that volume 2 will hit the stores on the 19th of November. The new single “Battleborn” is already getting radio airplay and whoever pre-orders the album on iTunes (standard or deluxe edition), gets an instant download of it.

Regarding this song, singer Ivan Moody says: » After getting off the road from two years of touring, I was physically and emotionally drained. (…) Even though I was doing what I’d dreamed of doing, it took all the energy that I had … it was exhausting. That made me realize, everything worth fighting for you will actually HAVE TO fight for. Every wish, every dream, every idea comes to existence only through blood, sweat and sacrifice… we are all battle born. «

Rival Sons have released a video for their latest single, Wild Animal, compiled from footage sent in from their fans.

Rival Sons drummer Michael Miley comments:

So check it out.  Before our recent European tour, we asked our fans to submit 20 sec clips for the song Wild Animal off our latest album Head Down.  What a riot it was going through these!  Now, we present to you the culmination of our fans’ (all your!) hard work and creativity on the ‘Official Wild Animal Fan Clip’.  We’re always interested in encouraging creativity and so many of our fans worldwide totally put real time and effort into these clips; the entries were awesome and far exceeded our expectations!  Yo!  Rival ‘Sons and Daughters’: you’ve outdone yourselves!  We’re gonna have to set the bar higher for the next one haha!  We want to thank you all for the entries, and also all your support on our recent European tour – man, you guys are awesome.

Scorpion Child reveal artwork and tracklisting for self-titled debut album

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , on 27th April 2013 by Nico Davidson

Austin’s hard rock sensation, Scorpion Child have revealed the artwork and tracklist from their forthcoming self-titled debut studio album.

Scorpion Child will be released June 24th, 2013 via Nuclear Blast. Produced and arranged by Chris “Frenchie” Smith (The Answer, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, The Toadies, Dax Riggs), the self-titled album was recorded using analog recording technology.

Available as a limited CD digipack, vinyl and digital download, the ‘Scorpion Child’ track-list reads as follows:

01. Kings Highway
02. Polygon Of Eyes
03. The Secret Spot
04. Salvation Slave
05. Liquor
06. Antioch
07. In The Arms Of Ecstasy
08. Paradigm
09. Red Blood (The River Flows)

Bonus tracks:
10. Keep Goin’ (Lucifer’s Friend cover)
11. Lover’s Leap (iTunes version only)

Scorpion Child come from lots of different places, not only logistically but musically. Their sound heralds back to early 70’s kraut and psych-rock with a modern twist and lists Pentagram, Hairy Chapter and Lucifer’s Friend as influences. They originally formed in 2006 and have spent the last few years perfecting both their songwriting and stage presence. Aryn Jonathan Black fronts the outfit with a siren-like voice reminiscent of a young Robert Plant. Guitarists Christopher Jay Cowart and Tom Frank layer high-energy twin-guitars over the band’s driving rhythm section fueled by Shaun Avants (bass) and Shawn Alvear (drums). Black comments:

Our influences are diversified as classic 80’s thrash metal to the old school southern blues of Blind Willie Johnson, Lemon Jefferson and Willie McTell. We came to Austin to form a band with a single vision and though we’ve played in different bands with a range of styles, after jamming together, we found our footing in what we do best.

The band have recently finished a lengthy US tour in support for the legendary Clutch and Orange Goblin!

Yorkshire thrashers Evile are celebrating this year’s Record Store Day with a number of treats for fans, including an intimate live show at Crash Records in Leeds tomorrow (Saturday, 20th April).

The band will be performing live in the store at 4pm, giving fans the chance to see them in a unique, up-close and personal setting.  Evile are also releasing a split 7″ picture disc with Swedish death metal legends Entombed, featuring Entombed‘s classic 1990 track, Drowned, along with Evile‘s incredible 2012 cover version.

Evile drummer Ben Carter recently commented:

Evile are looking forward to making some stupidly heavy noise at Crash Records in Leeds on Saturday, 20th April in support of Record Store Day!  We’re going to start destroying ears at 4pm, so make sure to get in early as space will be VERY limited!  We guarantee this show will be utter carnage and something very different than the norm.  We can’t wait to see how a circle pit will work in a record store and need our fans there to show us!!!  To mark the occasion, we’ll be selling our new exclusive 7″ split of our cover of Entombed‘s Drowned, with Entombed’s original on the flipside.  All this is to show support to indie retailers, so get yer asses down to Crash and show your support for the old school!!!

Space for the show is limited, but fans who buy the 7″ from Crash Records on the day will get free entry to the show (space permitting).

Record Store Day takes place each year on the third Saturday of April, bringing together artists and independently-owned record stores around the world to celebrate the art of music.  Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and sold in independent stores.

For more information and to see which stores are participating in Record Store Day in the UK, head to this location.

Crown The Empire stream new song; New album “The Fallout” to be release later this month

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , on 9th November 2012 by Nico Davidson

Dallas, TX’s Crown The Empire have posted a new song. Check out Memories of a Broken Heart below.

Starting in 2010, the band set out with a  goal to separate themselves in a genre often cluttered with copy-cat bands. They combined their love for the hardcore genre with infectious, loud, and powerful choruses of generations before their own, and ultimately created a fresh new approach to heavier music. Combined with an equal drive to connect with every last one of their fans, they hope to use whatever notoriety they receive to spread a simple message of belief in yourself, and hope in others. Their debut EP Limitless self-released in November of 2011 furthered this idea of zero boundaries on what you’re capable of, and has even spawned the name for their fans: The Limitless. Through touring and a fantastic web presence, the band has built an incredible foundation of fans that eagerly await their first commercially released record and first full length.

Armed with an incredible record (“The Fallout”) produced by Joey Sturgis (Of Mice & Men, The Devil Wears Prada, Attack Attack!), an intense touring schedule, and an unrivaled work ethic, Crown The Empire hopes to take over the music scene in 2012 and beyond, and eventually become one of the major players in rock and roll. Never forgetting that they too are “Limitless”, Crown The Empire is a force that shows no signs of stopping.

East Coast doom metallers Hour of 13 have been confirmed for this year’s edition of the Dublin Doom Days festival in Ireland.

The fourth edition of the festival takes place over two days, September 28th and 29th, at The Pint in Dublin.  Also included on the bill are the likes of Urfaust, Tome, Weed Priest, The Veil, Weeping Ulcer and more.

Hour of 13 guitarist Chad Davis comments: “Hour of 13 are pleased to be a part of the 2012 instalment of Dublin Doom Days.  A little over 2 years to the date, it will be great to play our second-only European appearance in the birthplace of our first ever live show.  The people in the Irish scene are extremely amazing, and we would like nothing more than to bring our music back to them for round two.

Hour of 13 vocalist Phil Swanson adds: “It’s very last minute with not much time for preparation.  I’d never consider this for anyone but Mark and nowhere else but Dublin.
