Voodoo Six announced as support at Iron maiden’s O2 Arena show

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , on 16th July 2013 by Nico Solheim-Davidson

Voodoo Six have been announced as support to Iron Maiden at their sold-out O2 Arena show next month in London. The band are currently on the road with Iron Maiden, trekking throughout Europe as main support on the Maiden England Tour which kicked off in Spain back in May. Since then the tour has them to France, Italy, Germany, Poland and a whole load of other countries, as well a number of festivals including the UK’s Download Festival where Iron Maiden headlined and Voodoo Six took on the Red Bull Stage. The other festival shows included Belgium’s Graspop Metal Meeting, SeeRock in Austria and Spain’s, Italy’s and France’s Sonisphere Festivals.

Voodoo Six founding member, Tony Newton, commented:

It’s been such an amazing experience, the reception each night has been simply overwhelming. Maiden and their crew have treated us so well. This tour has become the best and most exciting time of our lives so far. We’re absolutely thrilled to be added to the London show, having been so busy constantly touring all of Europe, it’s a great feeling to give the UK a chance to see what we’ve been up to.

Having also penned a worldwide deal with Spinefarm Records, Voodoo Six are now touring in support of latest studio album, Songs To Invade Countries To, which consists of 11 tracks – including the current single Your Way – which was produced by Voodoo Six bassist Tony Newton and mixed by Tony Newton and Pedro Ferreira (The Darkness, Enter Shikari, Therapy?). It follows 2010’s Fluke? outing, released through Classic Rock’s Powerage label and mixed by renowned studio engineer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Metallica); Fluke will see an enhanced re-issue via Spinefarm later in the year.

Voodoo Six are planning a headline UK and Europe tour for later this year – stay tuned for dates.

Epica thanks fans for support and begin to look to the future

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , on 10th July 2013 by Nico Solheim-Davidson

In a recent statement released by Dutch symphonic metal band, Epica, the band thanked fans and began discussing their future plans. The full statement is as follows:

Our show at Graspop on the 30th of June marked the end of the “Requiem for the Indifferent” touring cycle. We would like to thank all our loyal fans who have, once again, carried Epica to the next level. Our world-tour promoting Requiem for the Indifferent has given us a ton of wonderful new memories. We played a lot of new places like Australia, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Belarus and Dubai and welcomed new fans at every one of the 100+ shows of this world-tour. A new milestone for us was reached during Retrospect, the celebration of our 10th anniversary! We will never forget being on stage with this huge orchestra and choir in front of the 4500 fans from all over the world.

As you know we will take a step back from playing live shows for the upcoming months since Simone & Oliver and Coen & Linda are expecting children.

During this period we will be finalizing our live CD, BluRay/DVD Retrospect, which will be released in the autumn of this year. Besides that we are in the pre-production phase of the 6th Epica studio album which we will start to record at the end of this summer and which will be released in spring 2014.

We can’t wait to share the Retrospect show and our new music with you all and we hope to see you on the road in 2014!!

Love, EPICA

Dark Funeral to play first EP in its entirety at Graspop

Posted in News with tags , , , , , on 10th June 2013 by Nico Solheim-Davidson

The legends of Swedish black Dark Funeral are celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2013 with a number of festival shows all over Europe. At the Graspop Metal Meeting Dark Funeral will play a never seen before exclusive setlist. This very setlist comprises the legendary debut MCD from 1994 (incl. the most popular Open The Gates) and the WHOLE of the classic The Secrets Of The Black Arts album from beginning to end – crowned by a special pyro show. The event is also in tribute to the founding member David “Blackmoon” Parland who died earlier this year. Blackmoon left Dark Funeral in 1996 after the release of The Secrets Of The Black Arts but will always remain an important part of Dark Funeral’s legacy. So don’t miss it and hail the sign of the horns.

ExclusiveGraspop 2013 setlist:

01 – Open the Gates
02 – Shadows Over Transylvania
03 – My Dark Desires
04 – In the Sign of the Horns
05 – The Secrets of the Black Arts
06 – The Dawn no More Rises
07 – When Angels Forever Die
08 – The Fire Eternal
09 – Satan’s Mayhem
10 – Bloodfrozen
11 – Dark are the Paths To Eternity

Formed in 1993 by Lord Ahriman, Dark Funeral quickly gained massive underground support by being one of the most ferocious and fastest black metal bands on earth. Since then they have spread their unholy gospel over the whole world and build up a loyal cult following from the coldest parts of the northern hemisphere to the hottest hell of Asia. Emperor Magus Caligula who left the band on good terms for personal reasons in 2010 has taken over the mic again for the 2013 festivals. He was Dark Funeral’s frontman from 1996 to 2010 from the second album, Vobiscum Satanas (released in 1998) album to the last Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus (released in 2009). A new Dark Funeral album is in the works and planned for early 2014 release.

Dark Funeral are currently looking for a permanent new vocalist – preferable from Scandinavia. Serious applications can be sent to vocalist@darkfuneral.se.
