About Valkyrian

Valkyrian Music was founded in February 2011 by Nico Davidson (Real name Nick Taylor) following his brief time writing for the now defunct webzine Rocked N Loaded. Originally aimed at just the metal, Valkyrian Music now focuses on metal, rock, punk, hardcore, alternative, folk, industrial, pop punk and metalcore.

2011 saw the birth of both Valkyrian Music and Valkyrian Festival, our annual charity event while 2012 has so far seen the expansion of Valkyrian Music, gaining readers from Europe and North America as well as South Africa, Mongolia, Japan, Iraq and many more, as well interviews with established acts such as Tyr, The Black Dahlia Murder, Leaves’ Eyes and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Band of the Month

The Band of the Month segment is a monthly piece where we focus on a different unsigned band each month. Each BOTM is chosen by readers’ votes. Notable BOTMs include Aonia, Ravenage, Pastel Jack and Incassum. Want to be in the nominees for the next Band of the Month? Well, e-mail the editor to be considered: nico.davidson@valkyrianmusic.com

Compilations

In our effort to support the underground scenes of the world, we release the occasional free-to-download compilation, featuring tracks from bands from around the world. Notable bands that have been featured include Aonia, Windrider, Northsong, Deformation of Man and Ziyos.

We currently have no plans for releasing another compilation but watch this space because we will release another one sometime in the future.
