Dissimulation- Prakeikimas

Band: Dissimulation
Album: Prakeikimas
Release year: 2005
Genre: Black Metal/ Thrash Metal

‘Prakeikimas’ is the second full length album from Lithuanian black thrash metallers, Dissimulation.

The intro to the first track ‘Aš Jūsų Prakeikimas’ reminds me of the opening credits to an epic movie complete with orchestral music and an operatic choir. However, do not let this fool you into thinking that the rest of the album is going to sound like this. What follows is best described as furious, thrashy black metal with some memorable guitar parts. At the same time the vocals could use a more uniform style and less variation in pitch.

‘Suteikim Jiems Kančią’ continues with the same formula minus the epic intro but plus several skilfully executed guitar riffs and drum elements. The vocals work a lot better here and combined with the guitar work they remind me of the Norwegian metal band I. ‘Alpha Et Omega’ is more thrashy in nature and it’s easy to detect a Venom influence in the guitar style.

The last two tracks continue with the fast-paced thrashy black metal. The final song ‘Karo Ugnys / Į Dausas’ is easily the most catchy and memorable on here. What makes this track special are the Immortal-esque guitars. It would be even better if it didn’t have the progressive parts and the random ambient synth noises in the second half of the track. Maybe this was meant to be a bonus piece, if so I wish they didn’t include it.
